Tractile @ Blumengold 02-02-2008

admin |

If someone was asked what it would sound like if all of the most frightening, most exciting and sexiest scenes in cinema history were spliced together and merged with a robotic dance score, Tractile would surely be the reply. Adam Young (b. 1983) and Joel Boychuk (b. 1985), with several years of miscellaneous music experience behind them and a few years as great friends and partners-in-crime, decided to reinvent their sound and call themselves “Tractile.” Having been obsessed with the concept of controlling the uncontrollable and seducing recorded sound of any kind, the name was a suiting merge between the words track and tactile. Boychuk and Young played their first public live show in 2003 and have continued to shake dance-floors ever since, always impressing and exciting their audience far beyond expectation. Influenced by a strange combination of filmmakers like Stanley Kubrick and George Lucas and the evolution of techno music and emergence of the minimal sound through artists like Richie Hawtin and Jeff Milligan, Tractile delivers barrages of demented but motivating tech grooves perfect for dance floors and at-home listeners alike… and with a swiftly-growing international fanbase, it’s no wonder the name is on the toungue-tips of DJs and music fans everywhere.

Tiefschwarz @ Klinch (Netherlands) 16-05-2008

admin |

Tiefschwarz was formed in 1996 by two brothers – Alexander and Sebastian Schwarz – who have been successful DJs for over a decade. Peter Hoff, who runs the Benztown studios in Stuttgart, completes the Tiefschwarz production team. Ali and Basti came up with the name for their project after a DJ gig. Tiefschwarz, which is German for ‘deep black’, is a mixture of their last name, Schwarz, and their love for deep house.

Elton D @ Hard Love 3 - 23-05-2008

admin |

Elton D. is nowadays a reference in the production of electronic music in Brazil, and has come to the fore due to his releases by international record labels. A landmark in his career took place in 2004, when he was invited by Pierre J. (known as Hertz), a Swedish producer, to release one of his most important vinyl (Tunnel E.P.) by Sway Records, a Swedish label. The records was a huge success, and was in the top-10 list of renamed international DJs, such as Preach, Misjah, Marko Nastic, Christian Fischer, Trevor Rockcliffe and others. In his dj/live act performances, Elton D. has never failed to show the reason why he has been so often invited to play in the main electronic music events.

Green Velvet @ Cafe Capital (Antwerp) 02-05-2008

admin |

Using the Green Velvet moniker to make his singularly twisted, funk-flecked house and techno hybrid, it was as Cajmere that he made his first musical mark back in the early 90’s after ditching school half way through a post-grad, chemical engineering degree at top-notch US college Berkeley. Initially Jones, as both Cajmere and Green Velvet, received more attention in Europe than he did in America, but over the years things have been picking up for this maverick producer. When this album drops it’ll set off bombs over here and Stateside, and who knows what Green Velvet will come up with then? “I don’t want to reveal too much,” he says coyly. “I just want people to appreciate this now, for what it is.”

Lee Burridge @ Kudos Beach 03-05-2008

admin | May 29, 2008

Before Lee Burridge became one of England’s more acknowledged house DJs in the early 2000s thanks to his Tyrant residency at Fabric alongside Craig Richards, he spent the majority of the ’90s in Hong Kong, where he honed his skills. Burridge left for Hong Kong in 1991 after realizing that his chances for success in England as a DJ were slim. During the ’90s he spun at most of Hong Kong’s premier clubs and also made contacts with visiting DJs such as Sasha and Craig Richards. In addition, he would often spin at a number of Thailand’s famous full moon parties in Ko Pha Ngan. By the end of the ’90s, Burridge had moved back to England and was ready to establish himself as a premier DJ. This didn’t take long once Burridge and Richards set up their Tyrant residency at Fabric, one of London’s leading clubs. He garnered special attention with his unexpected mix of house and breakbeats, two often juxtaposing styles of dance music that he would carefully balance during his sets. Lee Burridge is currently ranked # 30 in the DJ Mag top 100 list for 2003.

Milton Jackson @ Moog Club 21-05-2008

admin | May 28, 2008

Released his first EP aged 19 on Solemusic’s Tronicsole imprint. Known for his dark, almost techno influenced deep house music. Milton Jackson tends to fuse straight driving beats with eclectic, techy production styles. His first and so far only long player, ‘The Bionic Boy’ was received well by critics and the house fraternity and it spawned the Pepe Bradock influenced ‘Sunlight’. After having mainly appeared on Glasgow labels such as Solemusic and Glasgow Underground, 2006 sees Milton spread his wings with EPs due out on Freerange, Silver Network, Urbantorque and Luke Sardello’s Icon Recordings.
