Booka Shade’s Get Physical label goes digital with their new sub label Get Digital. Its first release comes by Simon Baker & Jamie Jones titled Kaskazi.

Simon Baker & Jamie Jones have been long time DJ’s in England’s underground electronic music scene, who have within the last couple of years emerged as respected producers and have seen their works signed to labels such as Crosstown Rebels, 20/20 Vision, Freak ‘N’ Chic, Poker Flat, Cocoon, Get Physical and Connoisseur just to name a few.

They are also giving away this first release for free (320kbs). You just need to submit your name, email address and wait. It took them around 3 days to send the link to the free download but eventually I got it.

I am glad to see new labels releasing their eps digitally as they are mastered especially for this format. The current state of digital download releases is quite immature as most of the so called digital releases are not that digital at all. There is a big difference when a track is mastered for vinyl and then converter/ripped to a digital format (mp3/wave) and when the same track is mastered specially for being released as a digital one.

In my opinion we will see more and more labels going exclusively releasing their productions digitally which is only a good thing to come.
